  3. Explanation:

Lord of the Flies is a book where a few boys are stranded on an island. Initially they work together to try to get rescued but eventually, they get into a power struggle and all hell breaks loose. It is a popular book in English classes. The teacher aims to teach the kids, but does so in a more active way- by leaving the kids on their own. Chaos often erupts in classrooms without any supervision (but not in the same way that Lord of the Flies does).

On the 4th panel, there is a conch shell. In the Lord of the Flies, the conch shell was used by the protagonist Ralph to organize everyone during meetings. It helped people communicate but as order broke down it lost power.

  4. Omg, we read this in 7th grade in our teeny tiny school in Peoria, IL in 1974 and the teacher totally did this! It wasn’t pretty – someone was locked in the closet, the chalkboard eraser was the “conch”. I think it was the first and last time for that experiment 🤣
