i think it’s supposed to be an optical illusion funhouse, you think the room is big because the chair at the other end looks so small but when you walk over to the chair you see it really IS small.
It’s a joke about those perspective rooms at funhouses where it looks normal size until you get closer. Since their funhouse business wasn’t doing well, they decided to downsize, which usually means to cut costs by reducing the size of the business in various ways, but in this case they reduce the size of the room to draw more interest, creating a pun on downsize.
