  1. In case any readers are wondering those security tags on expensive items in stores have ink inside them that spill over and ruin the product if forced open.

  2. Ink tags are anti-theft measures commonly used in clothing stores. Special equipment is used to remove them, so if a shoplifter takes them and tries to forcibly remove it from the item, the ink will spill all over the item, dirtying it.

    This makes sense in a clothing store, but here, the ink tags are humorously used in an ink store.
    Therefore, the shoplifter gets some bonus ink from stealing a bottle of ink, which encourages shoplifting.
